Warren Osburn Biography

Warren Osburn was born on July 20, 1934 twenty miles east of Oklahoma City at Harrah, Oklahoma.

While on an athletic scholarship at Oklahoma Baptist University, Osburn majored in art and education and achieved a Bachelor of Science degree. After serving two years in Korea with the U.S. Army, Osburn taught art in the Tulsa Public Schools then journeyed to southern California to work as a technical illustrator for the R & D Division of Douglas Aircraft. Warren also managed an art gallery in Hermosa Beach, studied art at a local college, worked as a commercial artist for a small firm in Redondo Beach and painted as a fine artist.

Osburn returned to work in the adult and continuing education field at both the University of Chicago and the University of Oklahoma. He retired from the University of Oklahoma and after a short stint on a research grant at Oklahoma City University; Warren has been painting full time at his studio in Norman, Oklahoma.

Warren married another artist, Judy Osburn, produced and raised two daughters, and then both Warren and Judy began entering art shows and winning several art awards and have displayed their work from California to Wyoming to Washington, D.C., Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

Osburn has won awards in a variety of mediums including bronze sculpture, oil painting, watercolors, pencil drawing, scratchboard, and pastel. His favorite medium is oil and his favorite subjects are located in Northern New Mexico and other southwestern states.
