


















James R. Smith was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1941. He is a graduated of Marshville High School, Marshville, N.C.; the AIS, Inc of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and the Ringling School of Arts, Sarasota, Florida. He has participated in artist workshops with well known artist/illustrators Bob Peak, Mark English, and Richards Schmidt.
Jim served four years as an illustrator for the U.S. Air Force. He recently retired from hallmark Cards of Kansas City, Missouri after 35 years as an artist/illustrator. While there he designed hundreds of cards, illustrated several books and painted numerous wildlife calendars.
Jim has won several awards in various art shows, as well as being the winner of the 1990 and 1994 Missouri Trout Stamp competition.
His favorite mediums are water color, alkyd oil and acrylic.
Presently he is pursuing his lifelong dream of painting wildlife and landscapes full time for art shows and galleries. Jim and his wife Jean, have four children and eight grandchildren. They reside in Raymore, Missouri.
